Chris Walla reports DCfC’s next album is well underway, with six songs already recorded, and is scheduled for release late Spring 2008. I’m so excited I might dress up as Ben Gibbard for Halloween. I could even fill my guitar up with candy, genius! So you want to know how the album sounds? “Thus far it’s pretty weird, and pretty spectacular; lots of blood. It’s creepy and heavy… We’ve got a ten minute long Can jam, and had you suggested that possibility to me in 1998, I’d have eaten your puppy’s brain with a spoon” says Chris. Ahhhh what?
Walla’s solo album, Field Manual, is scheduled to be released January 29th via Barsuk. But before you go and download the mp3, bear in mind that Chris had to record these songs twice, after an incident at the US-Canada border. Much of the early recordings were done in Vancouver and Victoria, and when trying to cross into the States, US Homeland Security decided to nab his hard drive and sent it to “computer forensics in Quantico,” which just sounds awesome. More importantly, Walla knows how to take an awesome picture. Kissing the guns. Enjoy the jam and enjoy your day.
